I get the phones monday hopefully, so I will check it out then. I am just contemplating until I get them, listening to your guys' input on the system.
Thanks for the help.

Just took 3 816, 1 1432 and 1 2264 out of service 6 months ago. Replaced with IP Office. In the 20 years I had the Comdials I only had 1 KSU go bad and that was from a direct lightning strike to the antenna tower on 1 of our buildings, took out a lot more than the Comdial.
Never had a problem with the comdial that could not be explained and corrected, wish I could say that for IP Office. Granted the IP Office can do things the comdial could not but it's not as reliable as the comdial.
Guess what backs up the IP Office in our Dispatch faculity, It's a Comdial 1432 set for delayed ring. It has covered for the IP Office many times while it was being software upgraded or rebooted.
We are building a backup Dispatch faculity in the event we had to leave our main office, guess what system is going in there. A 2264 that came out of the old office, I still have a spare brand new in the box with an 89 date code.
They where great systems

Great story. Amazing reliability was it's reputation. We had an old 2264 in an auto parts warehouse that we would get calls on about the sets not working. The sets were wall mounted and water would run down the tilt wall construction and into the sets. We would take the sets down, hit them with a hair dryer and replace the jack and they would crank along along until the next torrential downpour. Unbelievable workhorses.

Same here. I have a 20+ year customer who has always insisted upon 100% American products. We had to entertain this by installing a Comdial 2264 for his operation. When they outgrew it, guess what they bought from us? A refurbished Comdial 2296!
Eventually, they grew to the point with multiple offices that PRI, centralized voice mail and VOIP were required to prevent a mutiny with the employees. We installed multiple Vodavi XTS systems while he kicked and screamed, but he didn't have a choice. Nothing is 100% made in USA in this business anymore.

:toast: Amen to that Ed; I've also noticed nothing is made of metal anymore either! The classic Comdial cabinets were sturdy metal and made in U.S.A., some of the new Comdial cabinets are made in China and feature an interesting gold paint that seems to serve as a grounding conductor on the plastic surface!

Wow what a neat system. The phones work perfectly and the KSU does too. I have the manual and have been fiddling with it. I can't understand what it means to have monitor and mute on at the same time and it blinks solid blink blink blink solid blink blink blink real fast...?

Someone puts you on hold, hit monitor and listen for them to pick back up,while on monitor your handset speaker is muted. Just came back from install of acs, removed comdial 308 ksu I installed in 1987,still worked.

All these nice comments about an old product. It would be nice if the techs that handled the tech service calls back in the early nineties could hear this now. They used to get an ear-full of unpleasant comments everyday.

On 3/24 I wrote Guess what backs up the IP Office in our Dispatch faculity, It's a Comdial 1432 set for delayed ring. It has covered for the IP Office many times while it was being software upgraded or rebooted.
Well today the Comdial handled some calls when the I.P Office locked up in disconnect on a line. The line would sound like it was ringing when called but the Avaya just sat there looking dumb. The Comdial rang after the 4 ring delay, Another alarm handled by Comdial.
