A bit more info would be helpful, but I can give you some pointers. You need a straight thru serial db9 to db9, using hyperterm with settings at auto baud, 8 bits 1 stop bit and no flow control. You connect hit enter and you should get a password prompt. If you have no serial port on your laptop use a Dynex usb/serial adapter. The Belkins don't work as well.

Thanks, I finally got this to work.

I am a bit dissapointed with the limited amount of info that is outputed for each phone call. It only informs that the call was answered or it went to voice mail, It does not specify which extension was dailed in case the call went to voice mail (we have 8-line mailbox system),
nor which options (sales, customer service, etc)were selected during the greeting message.

Those features are not normally provided with any phone or voice mail system out of the box. You need to pay extra for either a call accounting or ACD reporting package in order to capture such information-specific reports.

Raw SMDR data provides a good deal of information, but several lines of data need to be combined and compared in order to generate more concise reports. That's what these extra packages do.

With the ADMIN software for the voice mail, you can use the LOG feature to view activity on a chronological basis, but unless you know what you are reading, you might as well be reading a Chinese dictionary. It's mostly technician-specific information that is offered.

The phone system does not store/forward any call statistics other than real time. What happens is reported at that moment and if there's not a device to capture/sort it, it's out the window.

Hoping to get more detail on pc to system connection issue. I have a customer that has the system running (XTS 2.22) but is having a few issues.

I have the Admin software and using a radioshack usb-serial convertor. No database exists other than the programing on the system. Would like to connect via pc and download/manipulate system settings. Thank you.

If you are requiring ADMIN software for a Talkpath or Dispatch voice mail system, as many of the requests are that have been made here, that software is available to non-dealers and we can assist you in purchasing it.

If you are seeking software to administer the telephone system, the XTS family is a dealer-exclusive product line. We as legitimate dealers are forbidden to exchange proprietary information such as XTS-IP ADMIN software.

Basically, there are two different versions of ADMIN software. One required to administer the voice mail and another that is suggested to administer the phone system. There isn't one that provides for administration of both.
