In your system there are 2 ways to turn a MSG light on - a VM left in the mailbox or an extension calling you and accidentally turning on yoru MSg light. From your description, what is happening is the extension/port 144 activated the message light on your phone so when you press the flashing MSG light, it rings back to 144 becasue it turned the light on. As mentioned above, if you tuen LED 4 off in program 35 for all phone ports then the only way the MSg liht will be turned on is if there is a VM.

If you find an extension where the flashing MSG button rings another extension when it is pressed you can turn it off by:

1. the called extension picks up the handset
2. you leave the handset on hook and dial #409 (from the phone with the falshing light)

You may need to do the #409 sequence numerous times depending on how many times another extension turned on your MSG light.

Does this make sense to you?
