Just called tech support on this and they said to upgrade the software, he didn't seem to know anything about a "enhanced" motherboard

Call again and again until you get someone that does. It really does exist.
It goes without saying that the system should be running the latest software. There were some software enhancements that were done specifically to address the "weird" 56S problems, but the real and final solution is the coiled wire or the resistors.

Thank you Rcaman,
Added the 25 ohm resistors, one each to tip and ring and the problem seems to have gone away. Been three weeks and callls are no longer getting dropped. Again thanks for you valued input!

You're welcome. That's why we're here. We have migrated all our S class systems to Comm Servers. Usually, that brings an end to the weird problems and provides several nice enhancements for the customer.
