Hi A customer where we have a phone system wants to expand his paging system. at present he has a 120w amp with a number of horn speakers (in a factory layout) they have taken the factory next door and built a link coridoor between the two they are linked with a copper 50 pair cable and a fiber cable from one comms room to the other.
I was thinking of a new amp in the new comms room and wiring the new horn speakers back to that....can you take a feed off of a speaker in the main factory and feed it back into the new amp or any other advise on the best way to expand it. I dont think the main amp will drive the new speakers in the new location as they will require about 8 new speakers ?
any advice would be great ???

If the system is a 70 Volt system then you should NEVER use the telephone house cable because the amplified signal will bleed over onto the telephone conversations.
You could send an 8ohm signal across the telephone cable and then feed it into an input of a new amp or if it's just one speaker then step it up with a 70 Volt transformer.
Or you could run a new paging feeder to anew amp. You're pulling new copper and new fiber, while not pull a new audio feeder?

First thing is tell us something about the existig system. Is it a constant voltage (over there in Ireland it would be a 100v) system and if so how many speakers and what are they tapped at?

Good catch, Hal. I didn't notice where the OP was. If Ireland is like the (rest of the) UK, it could be 50V, 100V or even 200 Volt!

Point being you have to know what you are dealing with first. Depending, you may just be able to add those eight speakers to the existing system. And if it turns out to be poorly done like we talked about before, it may be best to start from scratch.
