We have one cubicle in our office that has gone through about 5 display phones (model #550.4400) with the off hook problem.
I've repaired the off hook problem on other phones, but not those from this desk.
Is there a wiring problem that could cause this?

Does the phone work in another spot? I'm assuming not. It's most likely the phone.
Does this person hang up kinda hard? They may be moving the little hooters that need to be looking at each other when they hang up harder than a normal person.

sorry bull

Hey test-ok, who is ballcube ? [Linked Image from sundance-communications.com]
Bullcube, I ran into one that the port was taking out the phone, when I changed the port the problem was gone, If it was wiring it would take it out right of the batt. Just my two cents worth.

Russ runs a local service and private tech center.

Is it possible that the hookswitch was disabled accidently by the user.

When the HEADSET enable feature code is entered, the hookswitch is disabled. The easy way to tell is that you must use the speaker key to end a call.

This happens when the caller forgets to push outgoing before dialing a number. If the local number begins with a 3 there is a good chance that they will turn on or turn off a feature since all feature codes start with 3.

To enable hookswitch enter feature code 316 There is a default code that will clear most problems 394

Just a thought since it is hard to believe that the same cubicle has gone through 5 phones with the same problem.

Good Luck

It's very strange... 5 different phones 3 different users (and as many circuts,) none of which are here enough to abuse the phone.
Everyone that has been at that station has mostly worked from home.
The only constant is the wiring and the cubicle.
There is slightly more moisture in that area, that's the only adverse condition I'm aware of.
All the other phones next to this are the basic - nondisplay models, maybe I'll swap one of those in there.
