I have an IDS 432. It has about 6 SLI cards. Callers dial a number, dial the extension number of one of the single line phones and are transferred to it. The single line phones are all set with "prime line 902" in their Timers programming.
The problem is, if I pick up the call as soon as it starts ringing, I get intercom dial tone and the ringing call at the phone camps on. If I hang up, the phone rings, I pick it up and now I'm connected to the call.
When the call first comes in, if I wait a couple rings before I answer it, when I answer it I get the outside call fine.

If humans are using these stations, I'd turn off the prime line - makes operation much simpler. When transferring a call with IDS, if the recipient answers before transferring party has released the call, the recipient must cycle the hookswitch in order to connect to outside call. UNLESS option SLI XFer (I think this is the one) is enabled - at which point the trouble goes away.

I tried enabling SLI PBX OPTION, with it as 'Y', I call their auto attendant and dial the extension, the C-Screen shows Reod and the call goes nowhere. I don't see SLI Xfer.

It sounds like you are using a VM for auto attend and it is not doing a blind transfer. What do you have for the transfer code in the voice mail?
If you watch the C-Screen you will most likely see the single line extension trying to answer the call before it is released from AA and that is why they are getting intercom tone. You may try SLI PBX Option set to Y but that also affects call being placed on Hold from a single line.

When this option is programmed Y (yes), to transfer a call from a single line telephone, the user must flash the switch–
hook, and then dial the extension number (the # is eliminated). When a call is screen transferred to a single line telephone
with this option programmed Y (yes), the screened call is connected to the single line telephone as soon as the
extension making the announcement hangs–up. The switch–hook does not have to be cycled to receive the call.
When this option is programmed Y (yes), a call placed on hold at a single line telephone is actually
in a pre–transfer state. The recall timer in the pre–transfer state is fixed at 2 minutes. The station’s
Hold Recall timer does not apply to this state

They have a VXC.
PBX PARAMETERS SCREEN / Transfer Sequence is #.
In the G screen, Trnsfr is blank.

Try the SLI PBX option to a Y and you have to remove the # from the VXC. Just remember the thing it says about putting calls on hold will be effected. What is happening is the single line users are answering the screened call from the VXC when they answer on the first ring and of course it has gone back on hook so they get ICM tone. Then when they hang up the call rings through.
