Looking for a stand alone device to do remote listen in. Want to dial the phone number have it answer and listen in for any sounds in the room. Found alarm dialers but they only allow listen in after an alarm has been triggered. Any suggestions. Thanks

There was something like this back in the '60's by Olson Electronics. Of course, these were for 2500 sets and you'd unscrew the mouthpiece and replace the transmit microphone. You might try some of the "spy" supply houses.

Many answering machines offer a "room monitor" function.

Dial in and when it answers, dial a code. Pretty cheap and works well.

Sensaphone makes relatively inexpensive devices that allow you to listen. I am using one successfully at a location.

I was at a recent tradeshow/CEU class where the rep from a major manufacturing company was pimping their two-way stuff...

... and didn't know what "full-duplex" was.

I like two-way and listen-in features... but while I am very new to the biz, I've already learned the hard way to call the manufacturers and ask the hard questions, as opposed to relying on marketing descriptions.

Serious "buyer beware" on this stuff just from my limited experience.

Learning as fast as I can.

Valcom 9030. May be to exspenisve for you. You would need to dial in to an unused line or analog port to maximize the result. Then hide the Valcom talkback mics. Sneaky sneaky sneaky....

You could trigger the mics with a fax line share device if you only have one incoming line such as a residence.

A Valcom V-9940 Station Level Page Adapter in conjuction with a V-1048 Talkback Horn (or other 45 ohm talkback speaker) will yield the desired results.

A C.O. line is required for access from the outside world.

Hope this helps!

I use viking e-1600 series emergency phone boxes in my bar, they only provide up to 9 minutes of connect time but the nice thing is they work two ways.

1.) The staff knows thay are panic alarms and they can use them accordingly

2.) Staff doesn't know they can be monitored with or without an alarm initiation.
