I have a customer that is installing 3 new cards into their Adix APS system. Two 16psub cards and an 8subs-2 card. They have 3 cabinets so far, when I installed the new cards today and got into programmer it said it Exceeded 128 ports. My company recently got into the Iwatsu line and going to the training next week but need some help with this. Is there some sort of licensing I need with an APS? I thought this system should be able to handle more than 128 ports. Any help would be appreciated.

There shouldn't be a licensing issue with the APS. But you will need to update the number of station ports through the attendant KT. Might be something else causing the problem, but this is the first thing that comes to mind.

Your sure it is an APS? It is is an old Adix M it maxs out at 136 ports. Base cabinet at 2 expansions.

Does teh label on teh base say CML or CMM?

Before you can configure new ports on the system, you have to add them using the programming KT- it can't be done with the programmer.

It will help us if you tell us which software version your phone system is running, and which specific cabinet types you have. Some of the older cabinets were single-highway design and only support 8 ports per slot.

It's an APS software version 7.1. I contacted tech support and they got me through the programming on the KT. I have the three cards in the third cabinet but only one is showing up in the programmer. I have one 16psub in the first slot one in the third and the 8subs-2 in the second slot. Is there any reason that the one 16 and the 8 are not showing up? From what I read I thought that they could go in any of the slots except the 16psub could not go into the second slot. But I did get the ports up to 168 to cover the added stations.

The 16PSUB card has highway selection slide switches on the card. SW1 and SW2 determine single or double highway selection. If the 16PSUB card is installed in a dual highway slot of the APS (CML slots 2 - 5 EXPML slots 3 - 6) you must make sure SW1/ SW2 are set to Dual-Highway (position = down). SW1 and 2 are located toward the back of the card on the component side by the edge connector.
You may have already checked this, but your symptoms indicate this is the issue.

I installed the card in the 1st slot in the third cabinet and turned the sw1/2 switch to off like it said in the documentation. Can I not install it in the 1st slot of the 3rd cabinet? And what about the 8subs-2 in the second slot? Is there anything else that it could be?

What are the exact types of cabinet in use?

Depending on the original install, the highways in the second and third cabinets may only support 8 port cards. Let us know exactly what kind they are- the label is on the left hand side of the cabinet.

The other possibility is your system has a MEM-M which maxes out at 256 ports. The 3rd shelf - slots 1 and 2 start at port 257.
Check you system size setting in the main screen of the programmer. If it says 256 - that's the problem
