I am looking for a Vendor that can provide me with a quote to install and maintain a Avaya IP Office system for my Morristown NJ office. There would be approximately 20 IP phones and 4 Analog phones (modem, Fax, Conference Phones).

This system would replace an existing Nitsuko i384 PBX. Services would include installation training and some Cabling work.

BTW. Why would you need to use IP phones in the office?

I agree with Vad60. There is no need for a full IP system if all of your users are in house. You might want to think of other options. reason being pure VOIP systems don't have all the features that a digital system would have.

First of all if you have existing data network cabling, and data network your IP phones would be implemented on the data network(LAN) not on other wiring so you would not need to replace any wiring unless you need an IP phone where you do not have existing network cabling. The IP phones DO NOT need to have their own network cable, they can share one with your PC workstations without issue.

If you wish to use the hybrid capabilities of the IPO it can also provide digital phone ports exactly like your standard digital phones from any non-IP phone system as well as provide analog extentions in this same fashion. This would work on cat3 or higher cabling including network cables which are not in use for the data network.

Also, IPO is not a pure VOIP system, but a hybrid which can compete with any non-VOIP system, as well as VOIP systems as it is full featured on both sides of the coin.

I have installed, serviced, maintained, and remotely supported a total of over 100 IPO's, and have a bundle of references. In a full range from all digital systems, all analog systems, all IP, mixed IP/digital/analog systems, with remote workers, and multi-site SCN systems.

Its only if client wants the same Network for Voice & Data. In this case if he doesn't have network switch with build in QoS he has to get one. So, this is not a simple thing to Install IP system in the existing office.

There is no need to have a seperate network for the IPO, period. The network switch probably has QOS already built in from my experience with the implementations I have done not as single switch has had to be replaced because they all had QOS, and QOS ability is not uncommon in switches for the past few years.

I realize that many people who are inexperienced with IPO, and with IP systems believe that you have to rewire your entire office because they have never done one, but it is simply not true, and you can read the manuals if you do not believe me. I do have the Avaya product authorizations to implement the IPO, as well as experience implementing the IPO, so I do know what I am talking about. I am suprised that you even thought rewiring was even a requirement. If you would like to learn more about the IPO check out Avaya university online they have some courses that can heklp you to gain some more knowledge about the IPO.

Nobody said that you have to rewire entire place. I said that many customers would like to keep Voice and Data Networks separated not been depend on each other. Because Data Network goes down much often then Voice. In that case you have to consider extra expencies on new wiring.
And I beleive that you have experience and knowlege in IPO. So let stop argue about it.

I must have misunderstood what you said which I quoted above.
Also, very few customers want to keep the voice, and data seperate when they have an IP network already they just put voice on it in almost all cases. Keeping them seperate almost never happens, and never in all the IPO systems I have had experience with have they been completely seperate.

Also, I am not arguing with you I am just trying to inform you. If you would like to learn about IPO, and IP systems feel free to ask and I will be more than happy to answer any of your questions. How long have you been installing the IP office?

I haven't much experienced with IP office only because befour Rel.4 guys were complaining about bugs in it. So I tried to avoid Avaya IP but I installed lots of BCMs and Mitel ICPs. Now I'm trying to do IP Office. Thanks for the tip on webside.
