Hi All, Can anyone recommend a quality CAT 5e/6 to HDMI converter? We will be using CAT 6. One of good customers has asked us to provide these for 6 TV's. Pricing for these seems to be all over the board from under $100/pair to over $500/pair. Any recommendations would be much aprreciated. Thanks!

how far are the runs? Makes a difference in the unit you choose

Under 200 feet....

The cheap ones top out at around 100 feet over cat6 for 1080p I think, slightly longer if you go to shielded cable. I don't recall the brand I last used but it was working fine for 1080p at 80 feet, not bad for $50. Cheap ones seem to be fixed to the wall plate instead of being a decorator device so they can't gang more than one to a mudring, which is a disadvantage if you need to use two inputs, blue ray and sat or cable is a common example.

I prefer the dongle style to the wall plate style, easier to arrange two HDMI inputs and you can use regular 4 port data jack frames and patch cords with the dongle velcroed to the back of the set. Mudring placement on the wall is less critical since you don't need to have room for a heavy HDMI cable sticking straight out from the wall plate behind the set.

another advantage of the Wyrestorm adapters is that they are "passive" - no power supplies required. They claim 1080P for 30 meters if that helps.......

Thanks All. The AV guys suggested this one. Geffen CAT 6A to HDMI by geffen. A litte spendy and requires CAT 6A. We did just install one from Tripp Lite Tripp Lite CAT 5e to HDMI but it is only good up to 115 ft for 1080p. I'll let you know what we decide to use and how it perfoms.

I would recommend a powered unit for anything over 100ft. Which is looks like that Gefen product is!
