I am trying to configure the svmi16e without ms exchange. I know this can be done using mailenablestandard, which allows windows authentication (apparently svmi16e req. ms exch windows login !)= apparently to prevent Spam. I cannot get the card to deliver email however error msg's are delivered successfully to postmaster on mailenablestandard. This means smtp is correct yet the error i receive from port analysis " Net On " command is..
" MTP Open connect error: (7,0) No address for descriptor"... without wanting to swamp this post - i feel it may help to show full output

of particular interest is the line

=>NET 19:37.19.95 SmtpOpen Remote Host End Point: 0.0.0.0:25
=>ERROR - SMTP Open connect error: (7,0) No address for descriptor

Which is similar to an exchange error generated when outlook express uses incorrect formatting of the address

ie: domain\windowsNTuser\account4smtp
mydomain\adminstrator\administrator

The example on the pdf offers username only, can anyone the correct formatting of

*** 1) addresses in system wide parameters ***
2) mailbox extension number pg 4 parameters for addresses

I haven't had a problem using other mail servers like comcast or yahoo mail. What happens if you try something like your home email account as a test. Are you sure you got the settings set up correctly? Some email servers do require a log in account with permisions. You may have to contact your network provider to get the correct format of what the mail server is expecting for it to work before you try tweaking the svmi.

Thanks for the reply Benb, I will try comcast, although from what i have heard the svmi16 is specifically programmed not to allow public email sending. All sending is limited to the local domain.

would you like me to send by mail ?

Kinda rusty here. Isn't page 4 in the mailbox set to something like this? Micky Mouse <[email protected]> I think that entry goes on the top two lines of the page. One line is like a name header and the other is the deliver address? It should take a Comcast adress no problem. MCLASS EMG Delete for instance may or may not need mailserver password authintication.. Guys/girls what did I miss or did I get close at all?

The vm works on any pop or mapi not just domain

the ip of the svmi is interesting 19.37.19.95 is not right. the default is 10.10.108.3 i think but should be 192.168.223.something.

were you watching port activity on the lan as well?

I'm having the same error as the original post.
SVMI 20 OS7200

ERROR - SMTP Open connect error: (7.0) No address for descriptor

Does anyone have the solution to this one?

Ive never really had much of a problem with email gateway. You have page 4 on the mailbox, mclass, and systemwide parameters. Once you have the IP address working properly, then you just put the destination in mailbox with the from field filled out. Some smtp servers will not allow email addys that are not on their server to be in this field, but that would give a different error. Make sure you have your smtp server IP address (not domain name) in mclass along with port 25 for most smtp servers. And also system wide parameters, but sw params is only for error reporting and you can get email gw to work without touching it. If you have all that PM me and you can try my public SMTP server that does not require authentication. I havent seen one that wont work on my server yet.

Make sure the e-mail account you have is pop3.
I spent ages trying to get this to work with a MS exchange account.
