Can someone tell me if analog ports coming from a DXP into a fax server would pass the same digits that made the port ring to the fax server. Here is what the Brooktrout people sent me. In order to use an Analog "loopstart" port off the back of your PBX,
then the phone switch will have to convert the DID number to a DTMF tone

ok, this answer is a little complicated.

First what version of software is on the dxp?
If you are below 17D, you are going to have a hard time making it work.

The key is to use vmail ID on the DID table. If you set it to more didgits then the extention numbers it will send the vm id down the analog port it is ringing to.

Keep in mind the analog port also has to be set as a vmail port.

If you need a set of 17D chips for your DXP let me know.

I'm am running 14a software. Will this only work with 17d?

The feature was added in 17D to allow this to happen.

Do they have a voicemail that is using serial or analog intergration?

The best way to test is to take an IST port and make it a vmail port, select a DID and add a vmail ID to it. Then call it. Listen for digits when you answer it. If you hear the same amout of digits as you set up for your vmail id this will work. If you do not hear dtmf digits at all and there is a voicemail on the system. see if it is using the serial port for integration. If it is, you might be able to get around it, but you may be opening a door for vmail issues.

Hi,

I have done this before. You have to call Comdial techs and get the change for the comdial link file. There is a change that needs to be done to get the digits out once you program it as big dog describes.

Yes, Jim you are correct. Please note that this will change the integration between vmail and phone system. Signalling/integration is now communicating via the vm ports only. No inband will be sent via serial link. Trans.txt entries will most like be required.
