Trying to setup multiple music on hold for two different tenant, using two co ports as the music input but the music you hear is very distorted.
Any ideas is appreciated

here's the programs dealing with MOH:
Hold Tone Source Assignment 1-8-31
this switches from the internal (crappy) moh to external

Music on Hold Pattern Selection 1-8-09
this switches between the 2 different internal moh

Hold Internal Tone Volume Selection 1-8-32
this adjusts the internal moh volume

CO External Source Selection 3-11
Use this Memory Block to specify whether the Music On Hold source is from the CO or an
external source (EXT SOURCE). this is a per co line setting

CO External Hold Memory Selection 3-12
Use this Memory Block to specify the music on hold source for each CO/PBX line.


Automated Attendant Delay Announcement Hold Tone section 1-4-17

All that you have mentioned are already set, but the music is extremley low you have to raise the on-hold box volume all the way up to hear it and it is very distoted. From previous experience it seems like an impedance mismatch between the on-hold box and the CO port. The on-hold box has two settings: 8ohm or 600ohm we tried both you can only get some sound on the 600 ohm setting.
any idea what the impedance is on the elite co port it is a coi8 card.

per the hardware manual:

Input Impedance: 600 Ω
Music for Station BGM using Analog CO Trunk ETU
(COI, COIB, or COID)

Auxiliary input: 0.6 V PPS Signal Level

This is an Impedance mismatch. You need a 1 watt amp for MOH. Graybar and Anixter carry these. You can adjust the volume and is much cleaner sound. Many people try to hook directly from RCA out on a cd player and it does not work.

I've read about using CO ports for multiple tenants, but don't understand how this is done. The MOH box plugged into the RCA jack would work fine if I could keep it off of certain lines. Is there any way to use the RCA jack on an Elite IPK for MOH and not have the MOH on certain lines?

Yes, Just plug your active MOH source into the side RCA connector.

Then do prog's 3-11 & 3-12. This will take one of your CO ports. Then just don't hook anything up to the CO port.

Last time I did multiple MOH sources, I remember having to run 24vdc in on the tip side of the co port.

Another note on distortion.

I have seen the audio output cord terminated to the pins of the 66 blocks this will cause distortion. The best way is to splice the audio cord to cross connect. This was tought to be years ago my a old timer.
If your impedance is good check how the music source is connected.

If I wanted multiple MOH sources, is it possible I need a card to "plug" the MOH source into for the CO ports or is there a converter to take the RCA jack out into the IPK?

I've tried the programming in 3-11 and 3-12 and 1-8-31, but I'm guessing my problem is in 3-12??? I've changed 3-12 per line to a different CO than 00, but it the MOH still plays, (and I hit transfer). I'm guessing that the CO I change to in 3-12 needs to be available, which I hadn't considered.
