We have a CIX 670 on software 3.1
We are upgrading our Dictation system and having some problems with the dictation system knowing when the lines are hung up and will record until manually stopped. The support for the dictation was able to turn on a PBX Management and for say train it to hear the call end, but that also seems to be a problem when cretin dictators are using the system that the they make a noise like uuuuu or ummm and it is hanging up the calls. so i don't think that is going to be a solution. any ideas on what i can do to change and allow the system to give a more notice or hang up sound, change in voltage ???

Thanks in advance.

Normally how does the dictation system know when to hang up, is it waiting for a D tone? What is connecting the dictation system to your CIX670? Are you just using analog ports?

Travis. That was my question. Can he program the analog ports as voicemail and enable D tone?

yes they are analog ports, i do believe it is just waiting on a D Tone. Only way I have found or read to do that was to change from SLT to Voice mail ports but the way that was worded was it would be if the analog ports were the ones calling out, or did i get that backwards?

Ya change your circuit type to voicemail on the analog ports connected to the dictation system. Then by default I think you are OK but you can also look at VM Port Data and set them to DTMF for the control method and enable the Send A/D tone.

Does a user call into the dictation device? Do they pick up a trunk line to do it?

I Figured out why that was happing and what needed to be done.
Still change the lines from extensions to voice mail. I had to re create the hunt groups for the lines as well. create new hunt groups with different pilot numbers, then make the known DID numbers Pilot DN's.
Still had to go in to the voice mail port data and set to send D tone but also has to set to SMDI.
basically when the lines were dialed since they were set as voice mail lines the stations would send the station information to it causing the for say dead air. Rebuilding the hunt groups that way made the stations just call a number and not send that information. works perfectly!
Thanks for the help!
