Thanks everyone for the reply on my first post with this issue, but the caller ID still only works after the call is answered. Dk 40 with proper expansion cabinet, tried different slots with same results, using RCIU.
Does anyone have a working system,DK 40 w/CID?
Or has anyone ever installed one and made it work?
Thank you for the help.

OK, what software level is the DK40? Is it a DK40 or a DK40i?
Do you have caller ID on the first 4 lines? Is it working correctly?
Has Caller ID just been ordered for this customer? Did you verify Caller ID per line off the system?
Is it coming over name or number?
Who is the provider of the lines?
Are they coming via a Channel Bank or like device?
Do you have a manual for this system?
What is showing on the display as the line is ringing in?
Do the lines ring directly to the telephone or is it going to VM/AA first?

Bob,

I too had this problem with a DK280 and would love a solution . It seems like the caller ID is working but only when the call is answered..... When its ringing it says "Line X is ringing" in the display. I think I posted a while back but never got a solution. Hopefully someone knows how to fix this issue.

That doesn't matter, PGM 93.
You have the line ringing directly to the telphones not to a DHG or Phantom?
You've checked you CLID programming?
You've tested the lines before the system to verify CLID before answer?

Come on guys you have to do this first to give us an idea of where the issue is.
Please review the previous questions asked and give us them answers.
It may be a provider issue...not a Toshiba or programming one.

Caller ID is working on CO lines, but only appears when answered. I have this problem on a DK 40 with TCIU and also same problem DK 40 w/Expansion using RCIU. They both are square key systems, all phones ring, Direct line buttons,no Pool,DID,DN,VM,AA,or anything funky.
CO lines are pots provided by verizon.
Will get software level later, but it should not matter,it is a DK 40.

Here again have you tested the lines before the system for CLID?
What is showing on the display of the telephone when a call is ringing in?

As a call rings in the system should lite the line appearence solid red in color for a second or two and then start to ring the telephones. If you've wired the CO Lines correctly and programmed the system correctly and verified before the system that the CLID is coming over correctly then when the telephones ring you will have either the Callers number OR the Alpha information showing only on the top line of your display.

If you press the "PAGE" soft key below the display it will toggle between the two PRIOR to answering the call.

So we got a couple of things to verify;
1. CLID prior to the system(at the demarc)
2. The correct wiring of the CO lines to the CO cards and the clid cards.
3. The correct programming of the system.

It could also be a hardware problem with the CO cards, clid cards, or the software. You'll have to change these out to eliminate them as the problem.

I have only see this once and it was the local bell office and could tell at the demarc.
