how hard would it be to have a special
class of service for room phones that had canned
propmts the guest in room/ext 105 is not available right now please...... beep and
allowed you to do automatic wakeup calls
and other hospitality related things like when a room has been checked out it is automatically
reset for the next occupant would make the tda way more flexable and while they were at how about a real basic call accounting sysytem that could hand call costing to the pms right off the ip connection
and wind up in the guests folio.

The TDA/TVA does most of this now.
Setup room phones with english guidance 2 with prompts removed that are not needed. Wakeup can be set from room phone or front desk. Check in/out cleans out mailboxes and shuts down phone.
Install a cheap call accounting system with PMS integration.

to put that second 1232 in as an expansion
option there are still plenty of people that want to just pickup the same old phone they've been using for 10 years and make a phone call...

i do have to admit that lee and bellingham
are like night and day but I still maintain and install a fair amount of kx-td products....
btw did you know I do a fair amount of sub work
on the cape for the tda/e dealer!!drive right
past b'ham every time I go out there
We still have a TON of TD's out there and have moved a lot of them to the TDA as well. I beleive you can still put some one into a TDE and let them keep their old phones but I'll have to look at that again. That's funny you may have passed me on the highway at some point.

I agree with having to be certified, but if you are certified to do the tda then you should be allowed to do the tde as is unfair to lose a customer for a upgrade because Panasonic think you are too small a company to sell it, not because you are not qualified to do it.
benb, sorry for stating the obvious to you meant to phrase it as a general statement not pointed at you.

Ken

Believe me, Panasonic is not trying to miss out on any sales. So if you're doing a fair amount of TDA's and you have an eligible TDE application, I'm willing to bet you'll suddenly be certifiable. Plus the TDA's can be converted to TDE's by changing out the processor. It's all about dollars.
I think most of us still have plenty of TD's out there, but if you're not urging your customers to get into a TDA, you're doing them a disservice. The product is getting scarce.

I'm not strearing new customers away from the tda
i just think that the voip thing nt phones with
wall warts pluged into them and all the bells
and whistles are not always going to sell
equipment to an outfit that is only really want's
to add 20 7400 series phones unless it gets to the
point you just can't buy the old phones or
equipment which don't fool your self theres more
of it around then you think.....
