Hi I am running avaya Ip office 500 with atm 4 daughter cards. They got 1616 phones. the Problem is real bad echo when they make or recieve phones call and some white noise. Do ip phones even work on IPOffic? Already replaced 56xx phones for 16xx phones replace atm16 for atm 4 for the impedance match. Had the serivce provider test line. Had line regulators installed to take it down 25 Milliamps. It has a extreme switch. Called extreme they said everything in the switch looks fine. No alarms in system status are coming up for Q.O.S 10/19/10 Installed dig. card and 3 1416 fixed problem on everything. Still have problem on every ip phone. Can anybody help with the ip phone problem? Also tested cable to cat5e tested good.

Gotta tell you - I don't like IP phones at all! We had IPO R6.0(8), 2 Adtran POE switches, 50-some 1616 phones. PRI for service. Echo and chop. Escalated through Catalyst and Avaya, they recommended Extreme switches. We opted instead to install 2 Dig-30 expansions, and swap to 1416 phones. Problem solved!! Anyone want some gently used 1616's?

I had a similar issue with IP phones and analog trunks. Ended up swapping out. Haven't done an IP phone/analog trunk combo since. However, we use IP phones regularly with digital or IP trunks with no problems. We always use VLAN and QOS.

Did the Adtran switches offer QOS?

Yes, they were Adtran Netvanta POE switches, QOS and VLAN. The data guys spent days with Adtran and Catalyst. Yet popping in a Dig-8 and a 5410, the difference was astounding.
