Hello all, I have a customer who's using a program for screen pops when calls come in. It was working fine connected directly to the co line. When I connect it to a port from the partner it does not work. I also don't get the cid on my butt set. I do get the cid if I connect a cordless phone or another analog phone I have to the same port. Any ideas why some phones get it and some don't?

If it's not a software issue then it's a hardware issue.

What's in common with the sets that don't get CID? Are the ports all on the same card?

I am waiting for the second ring before answering. It's definately not a hardware issue as I have tested on a few other processors. I know the engineers with tech support are having the same issue so I will have to wait and here back on what they figure out. The butt set is a little buttie pro I'm not sure what kind of modems they have in their computers.

The R8 is a new release that has only been out for a short while. Passing CID on the ports is a new feature starting with the R8 release. This is the first time I am hearing of this problem, apparently it is the first bug for the R8 but I'll reserve that conclusion until we hear from others. Could just be a bad run dumped on the gray market.

If I were you I would go back to the previous method of connecting directly to the lines because I don't think there will be a quick solution.

What you are doing will not work. You are trying to use caller ID for screen pop. Caller ID is not presented until the end of the call, via SMDR. You will want to do is look into the R8 feature of API. This will present the CID info before the call completion.

Well, I just checked the manual. API is on by default. API being enabled (by default) disables SMDR.

Don't think he is using the SMDR. Sounds like he is connecting to an extension port which should generate CID FSK on the second ring.

I am connecting directly to a extension port. It's just a problem with my butt set and their modems. It works fine on a couple of other analog phones. I just have to wait for Avaya to figure it out. Right now I have their modems connected to the first 2 lines directly so that should keep them happy for now.
