We just put in a ACS and they would like tone to come out before the page we are using a TPU 35 for the paging amp. Is there a program to get the tone or dose it have to have another kind of interface to get the tone

Thank you

One way to do it would be put a UPAM in front of the TPU 35.
But I'm sure Hal or Tommy may know of a Viking solution that may be cheaper.

I don't even know of a UPAM, either Viking or Valcom that provides a pre-announce tone. That's generally a function of the phone system and the ACS doesn't provide it on the page port.

Avaya's UPAM is actually made by Bogen, and it is capable of generating a pre-announce tone.

You can try and search for the "Lucent Technologies Universal Paging Access Module Installation and Use Manual" (copyright by Bogen Technologies) or I can sent it to you via email. You could probably find this product on Bogen's website as well, but I doubt they would call it a UPAM.

In any case, this document shows the proper mode switch settings you need in order to activate the pre-announce tone feature. I have two UPAMs laying around if you'd like to demo one of them.

Yup, that would be the Bogen TAM-B.

Up here in VT we love the UPAM - we use it every time in a paging application b/c it offers nice feature flexibility to all paging systems and makes the potential problems of paging interfaces all go away.
