Avaya Partner 7.0 w Standalone VM. Customer does not get any beep calling in and placed on hold for minutes. Tried 127 but this only works for user. Caller on hold still hears silence for minutes.

1.Is there a code for turning on an on-hold beep every 30 seconds or so?

2.Would MOH being on make any difference?

#127 (held Call reminder) This provides an audible beep for the user. (to remind them that they have put a call on hold and that interval has elapsed) 30 secs. a minute,... or whatever This does not provide a beep for the caller that has been put on hold. The callers hear whatever is input to MOH jack.

from the R7 Manual

Music-On-Hold (#602)
Use this feature to activate or deactivate the Music-On-Hold jack on the processor module. The
jack must be active and an audio source must be connected to the jack to provide recorded music
or messages to callers on hold.
Considerations 9
â–  If Music-On-Hold is Not Active or if no audio source is connected, callers on hold hear
silence.

There is no on-hold beep for callers. If you want them to hear something other than silence you have to connect an audio source to the RCA jack on the ACS processor. Usually this would be one of the many message-on-hold players out there. The MOH needs to be enabled through system programming #602. Volume can be adjusted in #614 if necessary.

Only a Basic or Baby Partner can be programmed to beep for callers on hold.

Hal and blklabs are right, but I too wish Avaya had put that option on the ACS like a Nortel has for the customers that doesn't have a MOH source.

Maybe on R.7.Z laugh

Maybe on R.7.Z

Then something else won't work. They need to quit while they are ahead.

If you can settle for a beep every 15 seconds then you can use one of these as your music on hold source: https://www.vikingelectronics.com/products/view_product.php?pid=190

Manual here: https://www.vikingelectronics.com/products/pdf/mtg-10.pdf

Though typically used as a recording disclosure tone, the company that I work for installed these as the MOH source on our phone switches. Now, when a participant puts a conference call on hold they don't bring the conversation to a grinding halt.

Just connect terminals 1&5&6 together with a jumper wire and connect terminals 9&10 to your MOH input using connectors as needed.

Geeze, if you are going to go to that much trouble why not get a MOH player. I believe the OP only asked if a beep tone was available from the Partner ACS not how to add it.

Though typically used as a recording disclosure tone, the company that I work for installed these as the MOH source...

Dunno, if I heard beeps like that that's exactly what I would think- you were recording the conversation. Kind of silly to do something like that in this day and age when there are so many sources for MOH devices that will make your company look professional, not like you called the CIA.
