I have a branch that has only ip-phones and no media-gateway. How can I advertize this branch office address to the emergency services as that branch address area location?
Presently, when they dial 911, the calls shows up as the main branch area location at the Data Center in another part of the city. We have a cisco 2800 series router that routes all voice and data traffick to and from this branch to our Data Center.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Spoty.

This should have been thought out by the vendor when the phones were installed. You could, assign a DID number to the group (branch office) then have all those phones send caller ID as that DID number. Then talk to the sales rep for the LEC, they can modify their 911 database to look for that CID and have the appropriate address.

Do you know how we can accopmlish this in the switch? I was thinking of configuring this on the "ip-network-map form. Do you have an idea of the steps if at all this is possible from that form?
Thanks,
Spoty

Buy and S8300/G350 or G700 gateway for the remote sight and put a few pots line in there. This ways you have a local processor in case of wan failure and a way to route your 911 calls.

Yes. We actually thought of doing that but, it's somewhat cost prohibitive to do that since this location only has four IP-PHONES and we do not envisage growing more than that in the future.
We do have what you suggested in our other branches, but not this one. So, if there is another method without having to buy any equipments, that would work best for this situation.
Thanks,
Spoty.

Did you look at the G150? That would help keep costs low.

Or an IP small office edition. I beleive you can link them with a Definity via IP trunks.

Sorry I have been away for some time. Yes, we did looked into the G150 but the only snag there was that our vendor told us it does not work with Multi Vantage environment like the type of equipment that we have. Also because we would like to manage all our remote locations with our Communication Manager 3.0
Again, this will also hold true for the IP-Office suggestion. I was thinking perhaps, we can use a DID number from one of our pool, edit the station form for those three IP-Phones and list this DID number there on the Emergency number field and then get with our LEC to change the address in their database to reflect that location.
However, I woul really prefer another method if this does not work or too untidy.
Thanks for any help....
