Greetings,
I've updated phones by pulling the software to the sets, but I now have a lot of sets to upgrade and was wondering how and if this method works with out the need to go to each and every set and put in the TFTP's IP address.
Push software to phones
2) Run TFTP or HTTP server on the PC. PC must be in the same network as the OfficeServ. 4) Set the root directory of TFTP or HTTP to the main unzipped phone software folder. Main folder must contain a subfolder called ―ITP-SERIES‖. 5) In DM 5.2.10, set software version number, upgrade Server IP address (PC), and type (MMC command). Upon saving the DM setting, system will push the software to phone.
Thanks,
John

Greetings,
I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, this is what I'm doing:
2) Run TFTP server on the PC. PC must be in the same network as the OfficeServ. 4) Set the root directory of TFTP or HTTP to the main unzipped phone software folder. Main folder must contain a subfolder called ―ITP-SERIES‖. Go to 6.3.15 and flag s/w update on the set to upgrade. click save
5) In DM 5.2.10, set software version number, upgrade Server IP address (PC), and type (MMC command). Upon saving the DM setting, system will push the software to phone.
And nothing happens. Do I need to do anything else? I would believe so since it doesn't seem to be pushing out.
Thanks,
John

You need to step 5 before step 2.

I usually only do 1 phone type at a time.

You can also set it to on connect, then clear the registration in 6.3.15 and when the phone reconnects it will auto upgrade if there is a newer version.

Make sure you set it back when you're finished.

I've been trying to do this remotely using Team Viewer. I wonder if I'm having a fire wall issue preventing it from happening. So far no matter what order I try to do the commands it doesn't start.
Thanks

TFTp uses TCP port 69.

I just did this today.

What tftp server are you using?

I've found 3cdaemon works well

I'm using Solar Winds free tftp. I'll try to download 3cdaemon later and give it another try tonight.

I use tftpd from here: https://tftpd32.jounin.net, comes in both 32-bit and 64-bit versions.

You say that you are using TeamViewer - does this suggest that the phones and the TFTP server are at different locations? TFTP uses UDP which doesn't work very well over WAN links especially if they are congested.

All the s/w, OSDM and TFTP are on a local laptop at the customers location. I connect to that laptop via team viewer which in turn is hard wired to the clients network for internet access. Then the laptops wireless connection is connected to the OS 7400 network. The reason for this set up was the client needed to have total separation of voice and data. This was the only arrangement they would agree to.
Thanks
