I just got finished putting the mounting cord back on an ITT 2564 set. That was the same one from my previous post "Gutted ITT 2564" Enough pairs is an understatement. I can't even begin to imagine a 10 button set or god forbid a call director. I can't wrap my head around 75 or 100 pairs in a single telephone set. That takes more patience than I am currently capable of. That's to say nothing of a main frame in a CO. I watched the videos of the Miracle on 2nd Avenue, after the NY tel. fire. I was in absolute awe. That they restored service in 3 weeks is just beyond my comprehension. Simply amazing.

If you can wrap your mind around the 25 pair concept, the rest is easy.

The same pairs get used in the same order, no matter how many binders there are.

The 10-button sets are actually easier to install because of the symmetry of the pairs and how they are assigned. Once you've installed a few hundred of them, it comes naturally.

Shoebox came today:

In addition to 3 400D line cards installed, a 401 manual intercom card is installed and the 6 beside it are 400E line cards.

For what its worth... The 400E cards ring up just fine behind the partner system. I cobbled together a test setup and call comes in thru partner, interrupter starts, CA rings loud and clear. So far with the two sets I have put back together, no false holds or any wonky issues. Keeping my fingers crossed.

I've never seen a 66B block with a 25 pair connector mounted on the side. Interesting.

Chris, got your vm. I will be back in the office after 5 pm. Call me after you looked at the BSP.

Google "BSP 518-215-407" Look at page 9 for connections for the 551C KSU.

As a sage old man by the name of Silverman used to say "Given enough pairs and relays, you can do practically anything with 1A2."

Damn it, Arthur! I've kept out of this thread because you've been saying all the right things - so why mix in?

But now you did it. Quoting me!

Thank you...

Sam

400E cards were exclusive to the ITT product line and were always designed to work with bridged ringing. They had their own version of 400D cards prior with nearly-identical circuitry to that of the WE versions.

@Chris: Holy crap! You managed to get a 118A ring generator AND the bracket for it. As Arthur would say, both are made of "unobtanium", even back in the day when they were in current production. Good score!
