I need help with the SBX IP 320 and a Vertical V10000 cordless telephone. This system was installed by a prior IT Admin.. I am able to login to the PC ADMIN through the computer. Here is the problem as soon as I plug in the phone to a port no matter what port it lights up red. I call the extension number and its busy as it should be. Also the phone when I turn it on says Aquiring Link.Could someone take me through the steps of adding this phone to the system??

Thanks in advance

This doesn't sound like a programming issue; more of a wiring one. The phone itself uses the inside two pins of the plug, however the KSU ports use the outside two pins for digital extensions. If you are plugging it straight into a port, the phone is just putting a short on the extension's analog port.

You'll need to transition the phone's inside pins 3 and 4 to connect to the station ports pins 2 and 5 to make it work.

Thank you for the quick reply. Is there a site that shows how to open up the receiver for the Vertical V10000 phone? Also is there a special phone cord i should be using for this? I am just using the regular green red black yellow cord.

Thanks again!

If you are plugging directly into the ksu you are going to have to make your own cord. On the ksu side crimp one pair of wire to outer pins 2,5. And on the cordless base side crimp middle pair 3,4

Yes i am directly into. I am a little lost on the pin 5. What type of connector is needed for that? RJ11 only has 4 pins and RJ 45 has 8. I am just plugging this into STA10 port

Thanks again guys!

If you have a tool to make up your own line cords, cut off one end of a 1 pair line cord and insert the Green/Red wires into your new plug where the Black/Yellow wires would normally go. Polarity isn't an issue but to be orderly, put the green into the black position and the red into the yellow position. Plug the modified plug into the KSU and the factory plug into the phone.

Pins 3&4 are the 2 in the middle, 2&5 are the next two out. you will have to make a cord or use a 4 conductor cord and rewire the jack.

I know what you are thinking...why is this system wired like this, why do the analog extensions use the traditional pins? The official answer is....

Beats me!

If there is nothing too hard about it I am sure you can figure it out without any help from us old phone techs.

If you can not figure it out find yourself a certified Vertical Dealer and pay for the information you are trying to get for free.

This forum is for end user support i.e. how do I do speed dial, how do I change my voice mail. What you are asking is tech level support that dealers have spent years and long hours to learn. Find yourself a good dealer and let him do it.

Best of luck
