If you stick to the big name brands you will happier years down the road. Some of big companies will back up their products for 25 years... Never use staples on Cat5 those that do are the grunts that do all the shoddy work out there !!!!

Staples can be used, but not in the hands of a rookie. I can assure you that a properly-used T25 staple gun won't compromise a C5, 6 or even coax cable whatsoever.

That's the problem. Rookies just mash down as hard as they can and squeeze the handle. Just like carpenters say: "Let the saw do the work". In my mind, this improper use of a staple gun equates to shooting a dead man two more times to make sure that he's really dead.

Properly-sized staple lengths and proper use of the staple gun won't affect a cable's performance whatsoever.

PS: Shooting a staple through the cable has nothing to do with the use of staples. That's just more of what I'm trying to say. Shooting a staple through any type of cable will cause a failure.

Product also needs to be purchased from authorized distributors. Commscope ran into problems when counterfeit Systimax CAT6 cable appeared in the market. frown

I agree with Ed. Staples can be used w/o compromising the cable or service on them. I have used staples many times, and have never had an issue.

Also have used and swear by T25 if you have to use staples.

Sometimes I just staple a ty wrap to the surface , especially with more than one cable running parallel. But I agree, T25s arent a problem used correctly. My test is will the cable slide slightly under the staple.

I looked at the T59's but found them way too expensive.
