Just my opinion Skip. I should have said that up front. My only experience with punch on terminations failing is from what I stated above or incorrect termination in the first place. I haven't punched down any CAT3 or 5 on CAT 6 blocks or jacks. I would venture to guess that if there were a way to measure the gap in the pins and the tensile strength of the pins there wouldn't be any difference in the two blocks.

That's a common problem on 66 blocks for sure...punching down 22 gauge and then removing it to punch down 24 gauge.

Asked the manufacturer and they said it's OK, so we've gone ahead and terminated.

now punching Cat6 down on a Cat5 patch panel is another story all together.
