You shouldn't get any slips.

have a new csu on way will test with it tommorrow. Any ideas, does it have to be coming from me, and why did changing the equipment make such a dramatic difference from 130 slips in 15 minutes to 15 in same period, will problem return? r we sure it cant be something with the carrier?

I can help a little more if you answer the questions. I now know you do have an external csu. How is it timed? No, true slips can't be the carrier. Slips are a problem of timing, they supply the timing therefore they can't cause the slip.

samsung says clocking in MCP2 card, today replaced cabinet, still to many slips, replaced csu, no major difference, then replaced T1 card, down to 6 slips in 15minute intervals (compared to 132 in same period),approx 1 every 150 seconds, but still slipping... Recieving clocking from the network, going through a passive adtran ESF T1 csu ace to system Tepri card set for T1

I'll admit I was always the middle man as far as chasing T1 troubles so I don't know the equipment on each circuit, there's just too many to know. I have never heard of a "passive" CSU, every CSU I ever delt with had settings for timing. If they didn't how could you run CSU to CSU?

Got a model number? I looked through the general description of several and none said anything about passive timing, which I don't believe there is such a thing.

Guess I'll say this one more time. Pure slips can only be caused by your equipment. Telco can't slip as they are providing the timing (assuming it terminates in a Telco switch, DACS or other piece of Telco equipment). If you have slips, you have a timing issue, it's just that cut and dried.

That not true ! I ran into a T1 install several years ago where the circuit was supposed to be B8ZS ESF. It took about a day for the carrier to find the problem. From the Carrier's originating point to the customers site the circuit took three hops through different COs. When the circuit left from it's originating point and and arived at the customers site it was B8ZS ESF but somewhere in the middle on one of it's hops some idiot changed the circuit to D4AMI SF. The carrier is in So.Ca. and I'll give you three guesses who it is ! (AT&T because they are never wrong)
