I have a Mitel SX-200 with 2 Express Messenger cards installed. I discovered I cannot forward messages to users between cards. Is there a way to confuigure these cards to forward messages from a user on card 1 to a user on card 2?

Card 1 9109-080-008-NA (8 port)
Card 2 9109-080-002-NA (4 port)

Are all ports on both cards (except the port you are using for notification) in the same hunt group?

Make sure they have the same COS and Interconnect table allow them to communicate.

Well since they are the same type of device thde "Device interconnect table" (Form 30) would not be an issue, but VAD makes a point - make sure they are either in the same Tenant or that "Tenant interconnection table" (Form 5) is not stopping the tenants from communicating.

I don't think that you can forward messages between to seperate express messenger cards. Why our you using 2 in the first place? If all users were on the same card then you could forward messages.

System would not allow me to put both cards in the same same hunt group. Can't remember the exact error but "group already in use" sounds familiar. All users on the 2nd card have to dial a different number to retrieve messages. After 243 users with mailboxes the 8 port Messenger card stopped allowing me to add mailboxes. It's possible that all ports on that card wasn't turned up/licensed and it was easier for the customer to get another card with ports already turned up versus turning up/licensesing the ports on the initial card. The only way to continue adding boxes was to add another card. Adding this 2nd card was suppose to be a tempoary fix but it's turned out to be permenent. They have just discovered the "forward" feature is no longer working.

I think the limitation on the express messenger (at least the ones I worked with) was 250 users. If it wouldn't let you add new card exts to the original hunt group then that's a pretty good indication it's not going to let them talk. They could have put the new users and VM exts in a separate tenant and used the same access code (with some other finagling) but that wouldn't have solved your problem anyway. It makes sense that the system will not allow forwarding across cards since all the processes take place on that specific hard drive. There probably is a way to do something with setting up some speed dial stuff, but seems to me it's just easier to have someone listen to the message and then call correct party and leave the info on their mailbox.

Sorry couldn't be more help

Didn't want to be the bearer of bad news, thanks 55-footer. Think he might be better off getting a real voice mail system. MEM is really limited IMHO. Hate that you can't forward a message to another box, and stop operator transfer at night.

You would think such thinks were commonplace, guess Mitel doesn't.

Thanks for your help guys. Looks like the MEM has met its fate. We will look into replacing it with another VM system. The user will not be to happy about it as this system has been service for about 8 years. Guess I will chalk it up to growth and progress.
