I've used FF for close to 5 yrs now? I almost exclusively use FF now. I think I'm still using the original profile too. I back it up prior to reinstalling. I've got a ton of addons to do this or that for me. Runs stable for me. Rarely crashes these days. Best addons for FF is adblock + noscript.

pros:
lots of addons
free
runs fast and stable for me (YMMV)

cons:
doesn't load all Microsoft sites properly.
takes a couple of seconds to open with all the addons installed.

I only use IE to load Microsoft sites, like Outlook Web Access that I test for customers. I have not really used Chrome much however. Didn't really feel the need to.

I used to use FF almost exclusively. I have now switched to Chrome. I like it a lot better. I find it easier to administer, I like the look of it, and it runs faster on my PC. Towards the end of my 8 year FF experience I was running into a lot of problems with its speed and crashing. This has not been a problem for me on Chrome. As Kumba said, some Flash programs have issues, but that issue has gotten a lot better recently.

After reading this topic I just put it on my newer (1 yr old) XP machine to see if it is more stable than IE 7. I had an earlier version on a Win 98 PC and it was good.

In the past few days my IE 7 has decided to go south on an intermittent basis and never the same error twice in a row.

So far so good for stability, the only thing I have to do is rearrange my favorites as it put them in alphabetical order and not the order they were in IE.

Actually you can use Firefox with Toshiba's NetEmanager. Just install the IE Tab add-on and open it using that. I use it on my pc at work.

I haven't used Chrome yet, simply because my work laptop (the only machine I use a dedicated Windows OS on) has to use IE for our administration software. I have two friends that use Chrome on a regular basis and love it.

Sweet, I'll give that a shot next week.

Believe it or not, the business-only machine that I use at home is a lowly Dell Dimension 2400 equipped with a 2.4GHz Celeron processor and 1GB of RAM. After all these years, it does all that I need it to do for accounting and such. Still, I'm wary about "bloat" in all the new gee-whiz software of today. That plus I got my Computer Science degree during an era when RAM and disc space were very expensive...so I'm a bit of a snob when it comes to efficient coding.

I have found Chrome to be the fastest of all browsers--bar none--and does what I need it to do. However I think Opera is also an excellent choice, especially if you have an older machine like I do.

Chrome also sports a built-in spell checker. Even as I reply here, any misspelled words will be underlined in red, which I either correct manually or right-click to select one of the correctly spelled words offered by Chrome's dictionary.

Chrome lets me resize things...like the Quick Reply box that I'm typing in right now. Stretching it out to 80% of the screen's width makes reading and reviewing my posts a whole lot easier on my eyes (less sentence wraparound to follow).
