Disclaimer: I know very, very little about phone systems, so don't be afraid to dumb it down for me!

We moved into an existing office space that had a leased NEC Electra Elite IPK II system. The landlord had to remove the system and give it back to the telecomm company that owned it.

We purchased a used identical system, and now need help installing it. We figured getting an identical system would be best, since the connector cables (3 big cables) were left in place and they are split off to all the terminals on the terminal block on the wall)

I have searched the internet for instruction manuals, and have found many manuals, but they are geared towards the phones, voicemail, etc., and not the actual KSU.

The three main connectors (Slots 1-3, Slots 4-6, Slots 7&8 PFT) remained in place in our server closet from the original NEC leased system. All of the original wires in these 3 main cables are still connected to the 'terminal blocks' on the wall. From this point, they travel on a Cat 5 cable to the individual phone jacks in our office.

I THOUGHT it would be as simple as connecting the 3 main cables, plugging in the unit and turning it on, but when I do that, none of the terminals (phones) turn on.

There is only 1 local service company that says they have a tech who knows the system, and they wanted way too much money to work on our system.

A little help or a KSU installation/set up guide would be much appreciated!

Thank you so much!

For me, there are just too many variables to get involved in this. You are going to need to purchase the manuals for the system. What is the software level? What is it licensed for? What is the voice mail type? Is the unit defaulted? Are you using PC Pro?

VM type is: EliteMail VMP Version 6.72 Q51531

Not sure how to check the software level, what it is licensed for, if the unit is defaulted, and I am not using PC Pro.

Thanks

Posted wrong pic, here is a pic of the closet with labels.

I can help you if it's not an urgent job and
you don't need sophisticated features.

If it is a basic system then you should be
able to get it working in default mode pretty
quickly. Send me a PM .

You Should call your Landlord to get the Number to the Company he sent the other KSU to. Maybe The CPU had a Compact Flash Card with the System Backup on it.

You need to contact your local NEC dealer or re-seller, in the long run it will save you money.

There is more to this sytem then meets the eye.

DrPbx said it well.

1) What area are you in? There's a good chance that someone on this board is close enough to support you.

2) Did you check every single phone, and confirmed that none of them came up?

3) Can you post a picture of one of the phones you are using as well as a closeup of the station cable terminations?

It is possible that the phones are the wrong type. Perhaps you have older phones that require a connection on the second pair, or maybe that's what the previous tenant had. You may simply have the amphenols in the wrong order as well.

As Dr.PBX said, there are too many variables. Lets see if we can find someone in your area to help out.
