One other thought, make sure you keep your DSS boxes on the same line you bill is under. They use caller ID to determine if you've moved the DSS to another location. The number the units are hooked to has to match the number they have, or they will shut em down.

Some towns & cities have their gas & water meters tied in at the D-marc or net-pop as well.
It wouldn't be the burg or fire alarm,(at least if it's properly tied in with line seizure) as that would cut you off.
Try disconnecting everything at the D-marc except the line to the system and then replace the disconnected lines 1 at a time until it starts again. once it starts again, disconnect it, throw a tone on it and see what the heck it feeds.
Also is the auto privacy mode set for all extensions on the partner?

Have you tried to go to the net pop to disconnect the line. Are you sure it's on the building side of the netpop?

I had a problem with the lines in the back alley of the building I moved into. I guess there are multiple taps on the terminals on the poles and Bell here has a habit of not removing old wire from the terminals down the alley.

When I got hooked up, some lady down the street started using my phone line because her phone rang. She gave her friends my phone number and she answered the calls when they rang in on her phone. I didn't catch it right away because it was on my fax line.

The apartment I live in has a 50 pair cable coming in from one side of the building and out to the other. There are about 10 buildings this cable goes through. They dropped an aerial to my building and it solved the problem.

Are you in a office complex? if so you might want to change the house/riser prs feeding the demarc, thus eliminating a local tap.You could also tell your dial tone provider that you need the underground and aerial prs changed.(street side)That should nail it.

problem identified

I got a digi grabber (Metro Tel TPM-32) and identified my problem within minutes: turns out both my TIVOs are set to dial out at these times (one is set for 4:30pm) so the solution was to move them off the main line

btw: I have been able to move DSS boxes to alternate phone lines without a problem: seems as long as they call home regularly there is no problem: my boxes carry premium service and do require a phone connection

Thank you all for your help: I am a Moderator on AVS Forum www.avsforum.com so I hope I can help you if you should ever visit over there (visit the Plasma Forum!)

In the Tivo you can set it for Phone availabe and Dial tone detection and it should work but everyone here know how things should and actually work.
