No one has been able, that I know of, to get the IP cards to work thru NAT yet. Junkman's suggestion looks like the best one.
The problem with VOIP thru a NAT is that the IP Header is modified, but not the data stream, which also includes IP info.
Here's the port info anyway:
Connection Request StrataNet (QSIG) 4029 TCP Call Control Channel StrataNet (QSIG) 6400-8191 TCP Registering IPT RAS (H.225) 1718, 1719 UDP IPT RTP/RTCP 1500-1503 UDP IPT RAS/MEGACO 45152 and 45153 (default) UDP Call Control Channel MEGACO+ 2944 TCP Media Channel for TDM RTP/RTCP 16384-16511 UDP Medial Channel for NAT RTP 20480-20991 UDP Medial Channel for IP QSIG RTP/RTCP 20992-24575 UDP The ones for QSIG are not used for IP phones.

I understand that one cannot put in LIPU card inside an NAT. What would happen if I were to add a vpn inside an NAT and at my second location? Could that connect my ip phones?

VPN should work.
I installed Netgear Router with VPN. Get 2 of those and it will create a tunnel for your network between routers. They go for about $100-$150 each.
I didn't use it for VOIP in this case. I used it for MS network sharing.

We've run IP phones across a VPN like newtecky described without any problems. As long as you don't have IP phones anywhere outside the VPN that's the way to go.

This looks like the correct posting for my question... if I should make a new post let me know.
I have 3 users with IP phones at their homes. My LIPU cards are internal. So I have Linksys VPN routers create VPN tunnels back to our office.
2 of the 3 work ok. I just tried to setup the third today with a newer Linksys VPN router (WRV200), the others are WRV54Gs. The VPN is working fine.
The one I setup today has no audio going back out to the remote phone. I can hear audio from the phone, but the phone hears no audio from me.
I've had several 1-way audio issues with the IPTs in the past. Some things I've done to fix are to turn off 802.1p and making sure the NAT setting on the IPT was set preperly (disabled or enabled - we have it set to allow peer-to-peer). In this case I verified 802.1p was off, I played with the codec and the voice table (changing it from 1 to 2 and vice versa with 711 and 729), and played with the NAT setting.
Before I sent out the Linksys VPN router I made sure it was at the latest firmware. But from what Junkman said above it could be a problem with the Linksys...
Any ideas/help would be greatly appreciated.
I don't know what

Newtechy - that's an AWESOME list of the protocols and ports used by Toshiba! Is that comprehensive? It looks like it is...nice!

Pmc, we're using a WRV200 with BEFSX41's and don't have any problems, it's mainly the low-end Linksys like the BEFSR41's that have voice issues.
Definitely turn off 802.1p and diffserv/DSCP, those will cause one-way voice unless EVERYTHING between phone and LIPU supports it, and most internet routers don't. Also, make sure your LIPU is using the latest firmware, I think it's 51D. Also, turn off peer-to-peer unless all phones are on the same local network.

I think we're on 39D which was the latest a couple months ago. I didn't think Toshiba would move so fast on firmware revisions...
I can test turning DiffServ off, but...
I need DiffServ for communication between offices. Also, since it's working thorugh a VPN, internet routers really should never see the DiffServ info. It's possible that the Linksys is having a problem with it. But I have 2 other phones out there on the WRV54g's that are working with it turned on....
What else can cause the one-way communication?
