I think you are going to buy a new hard drive from a Toshiba dealer or a repair/refurb facility. The knarly part is that you lost the "software license" on the old one and now are paying for that again.

I've been a fan of cloning the hard drive and keeping that with the system. A new hard drive may have upgrades that you should pay for, but if all you want is your same features, then ethically you should not have to pay for a second software license if your first hard drive dies and generally, sooner or later they all do.

Is a key required to use the DKadmin or backup software on a DK424. We have a DKi/DKiBackup software in our other plant and we are not sure if it will work on the older 424.

The DKadmin program is free, the key or dongle however you call it is what costs the money and without that the program is useless.

The DKadmin is for programming/backing up the system and is installed on a laptop usually. You carry that from site to site and plug into a Piou/Pious/Piou2/RSSU etc. what ever you have.

You could program both systems to have the PIOU type card and carry it with you as long as you power down the cabinet it is in when removing or inserting the card.

It will work on everything from DK 16 to DK 424i, not usable on any CTX/CIX products.

Stratagy uadmin does not work on the Stratagy DK, probably not on other ver. 2 software either.

I think this has gotten a bit confusing. Part of this was about DK admin for the phone system and part of it got to be on voicemail.

DK Admin was software for administering the DK phone systems not the Stratagy voicemail.

I'm not sure at this point if the original poster had a dongle and PIOU type card at the other location for phone programming or if there were two stratagys, one at each location.

In any event, I was only posting about DK Admin with the dongle for programming either or both systems.

As far as cloning the hard drives, that has been a hard drive cloner I was talking about, not software. I don't know if this clears anything up or just makes me look like a fool, but its five in the morning and I'm still typing.
