Parallel connect as I recall is only to activate the ringing when it is in deed connected in parallel.
It sounds as though you have unused CO lines active.
You press nine and your getting CO 6 and although the CO line is dead you will still hear the dtmf from the phone.

Polarity does not matter for ringing since it is AC. I know that the parallel connect feature would inhibit dial tone from working on a digital port, but I agree that it shouldn't matter on a PITS port with the 624.

Well it seems the polarity of the ring and tip were reversed - the cable from the wall plate to the T7030 is a reverse wired cable I grabbed from my junk box - DTMF problem on SLTs is corrected but the message lamp thing is still an issue - will have to start from scratch, or at least reprogram, the TVS50 to make sure 100 is set properly to notify extensions of a message. Told you I was a rookie to this KSU/PBX stuff ;-)

Gemini - I did check the active CO config and right now with just one CO line in I only have CO1 active. That was a good thought though.

Oops spoke too soon - seems that when I swapped wires I had the PT disconnected. Soon as I put the PT back in circuit the SLT went back to the previous malfunction. Swapped the ring and tip back to original with only SLT plugged in, worked fine. Plugged in the PT on that line, back to the problem. Saw code 610 in the manual - since I reset to defaults all jacks are disable on parallel. Set jack 12 to parallel enable and all is well. Seems that was the problem to begin with. Now I can use the modem on my laptop on that jack normally and when the rest of the system is finished I can use a jack for only telephone devices (fax and server's modem) but can still have a PT on it if I wish if I enable that jack for 610.

Once the area gets warmed up it's time to get the laptop hooked to the TVS and see why the message lamp function is pooched.

Wow you people that do this stuff daily sure earn your money with all these programming codes and such - makes me feel like I'm setting up an older era computer where everything was dip switches and firmware settings compared to auto setups we have now on PCs.

Well since this is going to be both a learning experience and something I don't want to have to redo if something happens I want to ask - is there a way to print all the configuration, back it up via the serial port or otherwise have something to reload manually or via computer if my present unit died or got reset? I've heard mixed things about the Programmator program and it's another expense I dont need but if it is known to work well it might be good to be a backup maker and reloader.

So far so good with changing 610 for jack 12 - modem, old SLT and fax machine all work fine now.

Well all is good - found the one menu item in the TVS50 not allowing the message lamp to turn on - enabled and everything so far is working fine although I'm nowhere near done with the TA624 and TVS50 adjustments and tweaking. Thanks to all who contributed, it helped a lot.
