the catch 22 is to pickup on the fly
you must have a ringing assignment!!

so its Day ringing assinment on all lines.its ringer off, auto answer on , fwd b/na to voicemail .if you do not want to hear ringing and still be able to pick up on the fly and
get a intercom call via hands free.and you want
your voicemail to pick up properly.

PROGRAM 99 21 AUTODIAL/STORE = no line on incoming. Lift handset or SPEAKER button during CO ringing and whatever is set for outgoing preference happens.

PROGRAM 99 22 AUTODIAL/STORE = Ringing Preference. Lift handset or press SPEAKER button during CO ringing and longest ringing line answered.

Above for 72xx, 74xx sets.

70xx sets use the PAUSE button or the Program switch on the back of phone, in place of PROGRAM in above sequence, forget which.

Also , each phone controls voice announce via it's AUTO ANSWER button.
AUTO ANSWER button off when phone idle = incoming intercom call rings phone if phone is idle. if phone is busy and call waiting is turned off on the called phone the caller gets busy and at that point can only hang up or press * to make a ONE WAY voice announce or request a callback by pressing 6 or the CBACK soft key under display.
If call waiting is turned on at the called phone
the caller hears busy signal. Options are to press 1 or BSS soft key under display to start off hook ringing and wait for answer,(or if selected Whisper Page or Off Hook Annunce will occur) press 6 or CBACK soft key under display for callback request or hang up.

AUTO ANSWER on (LED Lit) when phone idle= incoming intercom call make tone burst through speaker the
speaker and mic are hot, 2 way link established.
If called phone is busy, options are the same as above.

If caller has 7230,7235,7433,7453,7436,7456 phone with display and soft keys-- when calling a phone with Call Waiting turned off BSS does not show up above the left Soft Key. If Call Waiting is On,
BSS shows up above the left Soft Key.
