OK HERES THE DEAL. Customer changes out there difinty system to a bcm 1000 a couple of years ago. we are not the original installers and the no longer use them. they call us in to see why there confer unit hasn't worked since the upgrade. ends up it was never installed. we get them a 1000 expansion cab and two asm's. get everything hooked up and it works great with one exception. the bcm is not sending out any disconnects off the asm. if the bridge is silent for two minutes the the port from the confer will disconnect. but what i need is for the bcm/asm to send out the disconnect when someone hangs up. is there any setting in the system to do that? thanks

The GASM8 is capable of sending a disconnect. I think 3.7 is the first release to support it though.

update. I got the gasm8 in the system and it is now disconnecting the ports. I am still having trouble with something although. when I go off hook on some of the stations then hang up then try to go off hook again I get no tone the second time around. the station seems to hang and I cant bring it back up. if I look in maintenance all ports show idle. I have to disable the card then reenable it to get it back up. another note is that I have 3 gasm's in the system this is random, where it could be happing on any card different ports each time and I have had 4 ports locked at the same time. another note is when I test this I am testing it with my butt set not the confer units Help!!!!! thanks David

I had this problem on a site with my old job. Didn't find a proper fix, I would just get them to unplug/reconnect the fax machine, or I would try shorting the port, and finally do the disable/re-enable.
There must be a fix for this, or is it just something we have to live with?
I would like to see an answer too!
Maybe, maybe one thing to check, would be the length of the patch cord between the bcm and expansion, maybe its a timing error if its too short or too long?
Sorry, Kind of grasping at straws!!
Two girls later and I'm back.....lol...been gone a while but see same faces still here. Lol

I hate to say it, but it sounds like the kind of problem that might be fixed with a patch (that always sounds like such a cop-out). The only other thing I thought of was: How quickly is the second call being placed? Is it fast enough that the switch could be seeing it as a flash? Shouldn't matter but might help in the diagnosis.

I have seen this on other systems as well with analog conference phones (actually turned out to be a defective polycom). The scene is, you hang up but the port does not release because the loop current from the idle conference unit is too high and the switch thinks it's still off hook. I've also seen it when using a butt set that is connected to the analog port via the pig tails and mod plug of a toner. But if you use the butt set directly on the port it disconnects properly.
