For future reference sometimes on the SX50 the console buttons half stick down . When you dial anything it says invalid. Run your hand over all the keys to make sure one isn't cockeyed.

He stated room has no dial tone. IE System programming blown. Call a vendor.

Re: stuck buttons. For me it was almost always the little grindings from pencil erasing! I'd just unplug console, turn it upside down and run my hand over the keys several times. Sometimes disgusting what you wound up with on your hand! John C.
