Yikes! 568A, 568B for Partner wiring? We don't do no stinkin' data wiring for voice! puke

They may LOOK like 8 pin jacks but look closer. They are 8 position 4 pin. The ONLY reason they are made this way is so they can directly use the old Merlin wiring when a Merlin was replaced with a Partner. An 8 pin plug will fit but there are only 4 pins.

You only use 2 pairs for each extension and a 6 position 4 pin plug. Just take a look at the line cords. They are wired USOC straight through, T/R on the center pins (3&4) and the data/power pair either side of that (2&5). The T/R and data/power pairs are not polarity sensitive.
