If you maintain a standard 568A or 568B connection from end to end, you will be fine. It's just like running a long line cord between the control unit and the phones. You definitely need to provide two pairs, but they can be the traditional residential "Red/Green/Black/Yellow" format. It's about as basic as you can get to connect stations on this system.
