We need to expand our voice paging capabilities at our healthcare facility. I am going to need approximately 6 external speakers interfaced to our system to cover our patient building properly. Any suggestions on hardware will be greatly appreciated.

Do You already have some type of external paging installed?

OR: Is this a New Paging system?

No. I am looking at Viking, Bogen and Valcom, but not sure which will interface the best with our FXII. There doesn't seem to be much information concerning this on the net. We need to keep costs down and want to do this in house.

I would look at a 70 Volt system, You are going to start with 6 speakers? You might want to add-on over the years, Look at a Bogen Amp in the 40 to 60 Watt range, the speakers will need transformers on them to hook up to this kind of amp, thats how you can adjust the volume level of each one(Or: you can get seperate volume controls for each speaker)

OR: you could look at Valcom, with this type of system you will need a 24volt power supply to run them(valcom has a bunch of different ones, depending on the number of speakers)etc. The volume can be controlled by Optional seperate volume controls on each speaker.

Thanks for the advice. The 70volt system did seem like a good fit for our environment. Some of our cable runs may be rather long. Speaker volume will most likely be fixed, as we don't need anyone turning it down so that pages will not be heard. Six speakers is just a guestimate at this time and we do want the capability to expand in the future.
Do you happen to know which manual I could find the interface information in? The FXII has the RJ45 jack for connection to the external hardware, but I have not been able to locate the pinouts for it.

The center pins are for external paging.

Also, it is Not an RJ45, it's a 6pin usoc, the other 2 sets are for moh1 and moh2

Almost nothing is an "rj-45".

It's a hobby horse of mine, and I spent about an hour clarifying the relevant entries on Wikipedia last night, to make sure the remaining 25% of readers couldn't get it wrong.

And then they *tradenamed* the 12-pin cat-7 connector "ARJ-45". Furrfu!

I stand corrected. I hadn't really looked at it closely as of yet.
