I went and bought a USB cable extender with a male and female plug and when i plug it in to Win xp computer I get A usb not recognized message .I tried to find a driver for the usb entender but there is not one. Can any body hgelp me.

Have you tried rebooting the computer with every thing hooked up?

What kind of device? It's very possible that the USB port isn't supplying enough power, depending on the length of the extender. If the device has it's own power, it shouldn't be an issue, and could possibly just be a bad cable, especially if you can plug the device in without the extender and it works fine.
