Atcom Systems is an Alberta Corporation owned by the Attwood family. They began business in Vernon, B.C. in 1985, where they developed the largest independent burglar alarm company in the area, catering to the discriminating residential customer by focusing on outstanding quality. One result achieved through this commitment was that he had the lowest false alarm rate in the North Okanagan. Some of their commercial customers asked them to also look after their telephone systems, and so a new division began in 1989.

The founder sold that operation and moved back to the Calgary area at the end of 1997, keeping the southern Alberta customers he had served over the years, from Lethbridge to Calgary. After providing sales, technical, and consulting services to other interconnects, including spending a year as the Telecom Service Manager for Toshiba Business Systems, began servicing his own customer base full time in 2002.

One of the sons worked for the founder in Vernon and continued to work for the alarm company after it was sold. He moved to Calgary in 2003 and worked for Prime Communications for nearly six years as a Nortel technician. During this time he gained invaluable experience on various Nortel products including MICS, CICS, BCM 50/200/400/450, Call Pilot, and Meridian (SL1/M1/CS1000E/Option 11/Option 61/Option 81). In July of 2009, he purchased half of Atcom Systems and joined the company as lead technician while the founder moved into a sales role.

Since that time Atcom Systems has grown by word of mouth and acquired other similar businesses. We have added support staff and developed synergistic relationships with other interconnect companies in strategic locations across the country!

We have carried the same commitment into the communications industry as we always had as a burglar alarm company, namely to give honest appraisals of client needs, whether that means advising that you need a much larger package than anticipated or a much smaller package. We are here to give you the best value by providing exactly the right product and service to you, to meet your needs, not ours, and we will not recommend a system that doesn’t meet your needs just to get the sale.

Atcom won’t try to force you into buying our particular product. We analyze your needs and if we don’t carry the system that’s best for you, we partner with another dealer to make sure the end product will meet your unique needs at the lowest cost possible.
