Why Fibre Internet is Perfect for Business VoIP
Symmetrical fibre is the perfect internet connection to run business grade VoIP telephone communications. The factors that make such a difference are the high upload speed and stable quality of the FTTP (fibre to the premise) connection. This in turn eliminates problem areas for VoIP such as packet loss and jitter – both of which can make voice communications sound quite poor.
How Does Fibre Internet Work?
TELUS PureFibre™ internet is referred to a ‘GPON’ – gigabit passive optical network. One strand of single-mode fibre optic cable is able to deliver Gigabit speeds, for both upload and download! The optical signal (light) travels through what are essentially prisms to split wavelengths and provide our business customers with their own dedicated fibre connection.
The service is delivered to either a media converter that outputs to an ethernet jack, an integrated router that includes WiFi, or simply an optical SFP that can be plugged straight into SFP capable firewalls.
