You see that Trunk 802 was answered by port #1(Ext.42) and had been busy for 1min 28sec.
Is this a good or bad thing being that I have an 8 port Voice Mail system with 10 Trunk lines? I thought if a port was busy the call would go to the next available port in the linear Voice mail setup configuration.
I want incoming callers to dial the ext# of who they want to speak to and for the Voice Mail/auto attendant to ring the ext up to 5 rings if the owner of that ext # does not answer and THEN GO TO VM. The problems that I am having is the ext owners are sitting at their desk with no DND or other features turn on that would a loud calls to go directly to VM and sure enough at times, they look at the telephone and the Red Message waiting light is on. This happens at times when the Telephone system is absolutely IDLE.

You have to make sure that Reliable disconnect is set to Yes for all lines. It will help you to release a port after caller press the button to dial an extension. You have to make sure that each mailbox "has a phone" in its set up otherwise all calls will go to MB without ringing at extension first and finally you have to set up Delay Call Coverege in Extensions's Option for Group Coverege at the required number of rings.
