We have had some bad hook switches but thankfully they manifest themselves immediately and we replace them for the customer. Why in the world they changed to this hookswitch beats me. When the Partner sets first came out, they made a huge deal about their new "optical hookswitch" was signficantly more reliable than the competition. 2 versions later they take the optical switch out and they are like everyone else in that regard now.
Most folks don't realize this, but they change the model of sets ever 4-5 years (from MLS, to Euro, to new version) because of customers with FMV leases. When the lease comes up, especially corporate accounts, AVAYA needs something different to migrate these customers to. The set make overs allow them to get something different that is new while keeping the Partner product line rolling forth. For what its worth.

What really suck's is there are obvious problem's with these new set's and it does'nt give a tech much confidence installing them. Luckily, the problem comes up early and the warranty cover's it, but what a pain replacing, and it makes you look bad. I still try to use the euro's, but have the problem of keeping them in stock for back up, while the warranty runs out....
