Okay I performed the volt meter test.. At an idle state it was 48.9 I made a call to line one and was able to watch the volt meter lower to 12.0 the call was hung up and the volt meter went back to 49. I made a second test this time I let voicemail pickup on one of the extension dialing in on line one, volt meter went down to 12 and then remained there, call still posted on line 1 even though I hung up the far end.

Just to be sure if it is in fact a telco problem, call out on the Nortel, say to your office. Tell your far end partner to count to ten and hang up on you after YOU put THEM on hold. Watch the phone set to see if the call drops. If it stays connected for more than 15 seconds or so, then telco isn't sending disconnect.

Sometimes the thoughts in my head get so bored, they go for a stroll through my mouth. This is rarely a good thing.

JBean,
Once the call get's in the CP it waits about 1 minute for it to disconnect after a message is left. I would say at least 50-60 seconds. I've tried several mailboxes so it's not specific to one. I've made calls via the Nortel system and the call disconnects just fine? I can't understand what the issue is??

Your are 100% sure that the supervision is turned on in the line programming? And if this is the case I would take another voicemail there test it. Is there any programming on the 2 voicemail ports that is not required? The AutoAttendant in the CIC's is not being used,is it? How many lines on the system? Is this a problem on every line? Have you tried rolling the pairs? Have you tried swapping lines on the KSU to see if the trouble follows the KSU or the lines?

Disconnect is a KSU issue, not voice mail. THere are no lines directly attached to voice mail. As Nicels says, if you are 100% sure disconnect is coming down the pipe you have a KSU or line card problem.

Supervision is turned on for all three of the lines, issue is happening on all of them. AA is not being used in the CICS. I'm going to try and roll the pairs & I also have another LS/DS card I will swap. I did notice that when that line is locked up I press the line button key and it displays 54 line in use. It's not an extension number & it's not programmed in the CP100.

54 will be the B-2 channel on one of the mail ports. Craig, Marv says it is a KSU or line card problem, but you have stated that when the voicemail is connected, it is the only time the line gets hung. Is that correct? I would try and change the ports on the voicemail. Marv, I would agree with what you are saying about the disconnect, but if it works without the mail???? The only time I have seen a trouble this messed up, was we had a customer out in the sticks and all his phone lines came down a carrier. The telco was sending disconnect, but the carrier levels needed adjusting, as it was not sending a full disconnect. I could here it and see the disconnect, but would still hang the call in the call pilot. Telco came out worked on the levels and if I remember, installed a different card in the carrier also.

Nickels,
Yes I'm working way out in the sticks as well. I'm using DN 36 as the voicemail port & yes the line only sticks when in voicemail or even in call processing. If I happen to call line CP picks up listen to 1/2 of the greeting & hang up; the call will still show on the set as being in use. When in fact I disconnected at the far end. So you think the disco levels are too low? But why are they disconnecting fine when connecting to an extension?

Do you have a test center number that you can call and confirm if this comes out on a carrier. This is identical to my trouble and had to have Telco tech come to site for me to show him what was happening. Ask the Telco again to confirm the supervision, and what happens with disconnect on there carriers.
