Hey folks,

I just attended a compromised voicemail system. The hackers had gotten into a couple of the mailboxes (simple passwords) and set the alert notification numbers to the international numbers. Now, the out dial for the mclass and eclass was set to N for all 3 options. I thought that would have kept the notification from happening, but apparently not.

If you aren't using alerts for anything, is there any other repercussion to setting the ports to use to 0?

Thanks in advance,

-B

I would recommend just setting the COS for the VM to not allow international or long distance calls. VM uses COS 01 so you would have to change the other stations to COS 02. Then set toll level for COS 01 to B and make your restrictions. That way if they ever choose to make alert notifications active you don't have to reprogram.

Change the COS to 30 for the VM ports which is internal calls only this will stop it for sure , they would of been able to hack through the message notification ports in the Mclass, these need to set to none and i'm guessing atm they are set to all.
