Looking for a bit of guidance for what kind of resources to allow for good function on IP phones.

For example, say I have a 7400 with 60 digital sets and 10 IP sets at a remote office.

What king of MGI resources would you recommend?

Is there a formula for working it out? Is there a difference if you use MPS or RTG?

Thanks in advance!

You're going to need a OAS card in the system. This will allow the IP phones to talk with the digital sets and using the analog or digital lines. Does the cabinet have room for a OAS card?

MPS and RTG only apply with IP devices talking to IP devices (eg ip phone to ip phone, ip phone to sip trunk)

What lines do you have?

I'm looking more for a general guideline for resource planning.

I get that the idea of MPS and RTG are to keep from needing so many MGI channels so they can be there for instances where an IP set is communicating with an analog or digital set/ line.

I remember hearing somewhere that having line appearances (analog/pri) on an IP set can cause a problem. Would that use resources as well?
