I am trying to set up pager notification on an Access 5.3 system. I have it programmed but receive an error stating was unable to notified due to programming error. I have the system programmed as follows and I am not sure what I have to change to get the notification to work.

Under the mailbox

Pager Notification - yes
Start & Stop time set
Days set

Under Primary Message Notification
Cascade Level 1
Enable Notification - yes
Call Progress Detection - yes
Notification Type - pager
Notification Destination - CO
Notification # - have the 7 digit pager # programed with # at the end of the number
Pager & Dialing String - have the phone extension and #
Outgoing Access - have the trunk 9201 identified
Outgoing Access Prefix - 8
Outgoing Termination = #

Timers & Limits
# of attempts - 1 min
# called busy - 1 min
Personal # No Answer - 1 min
Pager Notification Retry - 20 min

First check to make sure message notification has outgoing access on trunk group 9201. If it does and still not working, try changing it from 9201 to 8 in your cascade level, if you are using "ARS" then this will dial out through ARS. Just make sure your message notification is also in outgoing access for all of your ARS programming as well. Other than that, all else looks ok! Hope this helps.

I tried changing the trunk access - however it will not allow me to change it to 8. When I looked at the trunking for 9201 - the outgoing access has nothing listed for day mode except for all of the phone extensions. When I tried to add voice mail retrieval/notification access the application appears 2504. Do I have to change something either in the voice mail retrival application or the outgoing access on the trunk?

You should not need to use an Outgoing access code (8) since you have selected a TG (9201).

If you put the MSG/RET application in the 9201 day and night outgoing access and its still not working, then the only problem I can see is you need to take away the # at the end of your seven digit pager number. It will get the disconnect from the "outgoing termination" # and the fact that you also put in in your call back number. If its still not working call that pager number and see if it gets answered with a "beep beep" signal wich means enter the call back number or if its answered by a greeting, you may have to insert some pauses in your pager and dialing string area. Also sometimes setting "call progress" to "no" helps.
